Shanghai Me

I worked with the amazing and talented folk at DutchScot providing key art as part of a branding project for Shanghai Me, a fine dining experience located in Dubai, Doha with upcoming locations in Monaco and London.

Shanghai Me is the epitome of Art Deco elegance located in Dubai’s International Finance Centre, the cuisine inspired by culinary traditions of East Asia. 

The Art Deco interior of the restaurant is a homage to the city’s golden era when it was a melting pot of different characters, cultures and personalities. A prosperous place where ‘chambermaids could turn into princesses’.

Using a series of 1930s characters with split personalities, this idea celebrates this transformation from ‘Me’ to ‘Shanghai Me’. Characters are given a surreal Shanghai Me alter ego based on the animals from the Chinese Zodiac.

An ongoing series of personal experimentation focussed on the more figurative and dynamic.

Words of Type

5 spot illustrations created for the Words of Type Encyclopedia. Each spot depicts a concept or term used in the field of Typography and is part of a larger collection of over 200 terms across multiple languages.

The encyclopedia is part of the greater Words of Type platform which serves to create and nurture a community with a common interest in Typography.

Through conversations, lectures, workshops and beyond, the platform makes typography more accessible, serving as an amazing companion for creatives at all levels to become more curious about type.

Words of Type was founded by Lisa Huang, an independent typeface designer specialising in Latin and Hanzi scripts. After finishing an MA in Graphic Design she completed the renowned Type@Cooper condensed program in NYC and went on to complete an MA at TypeMedia, the Hague.

Adweek + Twitch

Graphic key artwork created for Adweek and their Twitch immersive. The feature focuses on exploring the cultural evolution of gaming and the rise of online streaming.

Aperol

A series of collaborations with Aperol, including a key art visual campaign created for online and social media capturing the spirit of Aperitivo.

Alongside the online campaign I also created artwork which would eventually be used throughout the summertime at various Aperol pop up events and bars.

Everything You Need to Know About Whisky

Working with Ebury books, an imprint of Penguin and The Whiskey Exchange to illustrate a book all about Whiskey.

Kiehl's

A major collaboration between Kiehl’s and myself to celebrate Lunar New Year. Key visuals and assets were created across online, print and social media alongside physical sets created for product promotion and placement across the SEA region.

A wide reaching advertising campaign included packaging and product art, signature gift wrapping and animation was used to bring the story of travelling back to Shanghai for New Year to life.

An unforgettable campaign and I was lucky enough to be flown over to Singapore for the campaign launch to see everything come to life first hand.

Becks Beer

Artist collaboration with Becks Beer creating a signature label for their bottles.

Johnnie Walker

Illustrations created in collaboration with Diageo for their Johnnie Walker Blue cities editions. The illustrated bottles include Lebanon, Peru and Thailand.
